About CAL
A real league for Endurance
Calisthenics Alliance is a project created by Associação B.W.C.R. — Clube de Calistenia das Caldas da Rainha, together with other clubs, athletes and organisations from the Portuguese calisthenics community, to organise, regulate and grow competitive calisthenics in Portugal.
Why now
Portugal's calisthenics community keeps growing, but it had no regular, continuous, properly regulated competitive structure for Endurance. CAL rests on three pillars: a uniform and continuous competitive structure, a rigorous and impartial judging system, and a classification model that gives the season purpose, progression and commitment.
Objectives
What we set out to do
- Grow competitive calisthenics in Portugal
- Create a uniform, continuous competitive structure
- Raise the technical and physical level of athletes through regular competition
- Establish a national ranking for Endurance
- Promote safe practice and athletes' physical integrity
- Build a cohesive, active and lasting community around the discipline
Format
How the season is contested
The Battle
In the regular season, two athletes of the same category and division perform the same routine simultaneously. Most valid repetitions wins; if that ties, the fastest total time does.
The routine
Each routine defines the exercises and their order, the repetitions, any added load, and the timecap. It's published at least 30 days in advance.
Call-ups
Pairings are set manually by the organisation, based on proximity in the ranking. The same two athletes never meet twice in a regular season.
Grand Final
The top eight of each category and division qualify — or the top four in divisions with fewer than eight athletes. A knockout bracket, with no ranking points.
Judging
The same criteria for everyone
The National Judging Committee keeps validation criteria uniform across every event. Decisions on the validity of a repetition are immediate, final and binding — there is no video review, and no appeal during execution.
Every repetition requires
- 01Full range of motion
- 02Mandatory lockout at the end of the movement
- 03No kipping — no swing or momentum
- 04Uniform, controlled movement throughout
